Chain making in the 20th century
Five Generations of French Manufacturing Expertise
Since 1904, MARIT has carried on a unique family heritage of expertise in the manufacture of high-strength steel chains. Fondée par Isidore MARIT, l’entreprise a su combiner tradition et innovation pour devenir l’un des leaders mondiaux dans le domaine.
Passed down through five generations, MARIT embodies the values of stability, continuity, and commitment toward both its employees and customers. This family-led management structure ensures agility and adaptability in response to technological and industrial developments.
A Globally Recognized Expertise
MARIT is now a preferred supplier for the naval, military, maritime, and offshore industries.
Among its flagship achievements, the company designed and manufactured the anchor chains for the French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle — a prestigious project that solidified its international reputation.
Today, MARIT supplies high-strength steel chains (Grades R3, R3S, R4, R4S, and R5) for offshore oil & gas installations and floating structures, establishing itself as a global leader in the manufacture of offshore chafe chains.
Excellence in Service of Our Clients
Driven by technical expertise and continuous innovation, MARIT provides tailor-made, robust, and high-performance solutions to customers worldwide. With over 120 years of experience, the family-owned company continues to adapt and innovate to meet the demanding needs of the most challenging marine and offshore environments.

PRODUCTION SITE
A production site as high as our ambitions of 20 000m²
The MARIT production site, based in Valenciennes (France), covers more than 20,000 m², including 11,000 m² of covered facilities. Our manufacturing unit enables the production of French-made chains with diameters ranging from 14 mm to 135 mm.
Thanks to high-performance production tools and advanced quality control equipment, we provide our customers with products that fully meet the technical requirements of their specifications.
MARIT is equipped with several tensile testing benches, allowing proof and break load testing with capacities up to 8,500 kN (approximately 860 tonnes).
As a historic supplier to the French Navy for over 50 years, our production site also manufactures non-magnetic steel chains for military vessels, including mine countermeasure ships.
